Hardwood lump charcoal is made from wood, and unsustainable harvesting can contribute to deforestation. COCO-BBQ uses leftover coconut shells, so trees are not cut down specifically to produce our charcoal.

What does using a byproduct mean?
A byproduct is material left from making another product. For COCO-BBQ, that material is the shell remaining after coconut processing.
Does natural charcoal have no environmental impact?
No. Charcoal production, packaging, transport and combustion all have impacts. Our use of coconut shells is a specific material choice, not a claim that grilling is carbon-neutral or emission-free.
How can I avoid wasting fuel?
Plan your cooking session before lighting, prepare your ingredients and use only the fuel load your grill and meal require. Keeping the remaining packs dry protects them from moisture and helps preserve them for a future cookout. Always follow your grill manufacturer’s instructions.
