Our story · Roots in Puerto Rico I never had the chance to meet my grandfather. But I grew up with his belief that a coconut could become something extraordinary. In 1935, he founded Coco Rico, a coconut soda born in Puerto Rico. He used to say that “coconut was an industry of its own.” To him, it was a source of possibility. That idea became part of our family’s story. When he passed away, my father inherited a business close to bankruptcy. He rebuilt it, giving Coco Rico a future and carrying my grandfather’s vision forward. Growing up around that business taught me to see both the value of the coconut and the determination it takes to build something that lasts. With COCO-BBQ, I’m carrying that belief into a new chapter. Coconut shells have a useful life beyond the products made from the fruit. We turn those shells into charcoal for the moments that bring people together around a grill. Our purpose is simple: dependable heat, a longer cook, and less waste. It’s a practical way to make more of what nature has already given us—and a way to keep my family’s spirit of possibility alive. My grandfather saw an industry in a coconut.
